WALKS

There are fantastic walking trails to explore at Nääs, whether you’re out with your dog, your children, or friends. Sights worth seeing in the castle park include the Eagle’s Nest lookout tower, the signed King’s Stone, the Hermit’s Grotto and the castle cannons. Pick up a trail map in the Visitor Centre.

Our extensive nature reserve, Nääs Ekbackar, stretches between nearby Floda and Nääs, with large areas of untouched nature and ancient oak woodland. The pastures in the oak groves are being gradually returned to the way they would have looked in the late 1800s.

The path through the reserve is part of the lovely Floda/Nääs lakeside trail which encircles the lake, Lilla Sävelången. This is a delightful walk of 8.5 km in total that can be started from Floda station or Nääs.

You can purchase walking maps of the larger surrounding area of Floda/Lerum/Alingsås in the Visitor Centre by the castle. Opening hours are always from 11.00 and 16.00, on Saturdays and Sundays in May and September, and every day from June to August.
