The castle

A beautiful castle with an enthralling history. The castle contains what is probably the most complete and untouched 19th century interior in the whole of Scandinavia.

Visiting the castle is like stepping back in time to the late 1800s. Nothing has been changed since the day in May 1898 when August Abrahamson died. Careful maintenance and conservation have ensured that this unique historic setting has been preserved in its entirety. The tea cups are still laid on the table in the Red Salon, and the beds still made in what used to be the owner’s private quarters.

Every new décor style of that era is represented in the overstuffed rooms, including an art collection which is a dazzling compilation of 19th century Salon Painting. Our guides will be happy to show you around the castle and tell you all about the fascinating history of August Abrahamson and Nääs.

Please note that the castle can only be visited as part of a guided tour. You’ll find all the information you need about tours, times and ticket prices on the Tours page.

Civil ceremonies can also be conducted in the castle.

When I was little I spent many happy summer days at Nääs, and it’s lovely to be able to bring my grandchildren here so we can all enjoy it together.
